Girls Who Code Hiring Summit


The Girls Who Code Hiring Summit is a one-day event designed to connect the Girls Who Code and wider communities with internship and job opportunities in the technical workforce and to connect hiring managers looking to meet diverse slate of candidates for internships and jobs. This event welcomes college students, recent college and bootcamp graduates, and young professionals to network with companies looking to connect with a talented, ambitious, diverse group of computer science students and professionals!


Featuring fireside chats, a booth expo showcasing hiring partners, and day-of interviewing opportunities for open positions, the Girls Who Code Hiring Summit will leave both hiring managers and job seekers with new connections, opportunities and inspiration.


Attendees will have the option to participate in the Hiring Summit through two tracks. While both tracks will have access to company booths, recruiters, panels, and peer-to-peer networking opportunities, each will be structured to serve the needs of attendees in different places in their career timelines.

What is this track?

We are excited to continue to welcome all women and non-binary attendees who are 18+ older into this track to have access to all the booths, panels, and live event networking opportunities. In this track, you’ll be able to review company information before and after the event, and join on the day of to chat with recruiters in the booths, meet other GWC community members in our networking spaces, and hear panels from our GWC alumni community and from our corporate partners. This track will focus on exploring career opportunities across technical roles and expanding your professional network!

GWC is thrilled to offer the opportunity to be considered for interviews during our live event with our partners. By registering in this track, you will build a profile with your personal and professional information that will be used to consider your candidacy for interviews. Recruiters from each company will review attendee materials and select folks for interviews to be held on September 8th. Attendees in the interview track will have access to all content on the vFairs platform as well!
To accommodate recruiter review timelines, registration for this track will close Wednesday, August 16th or when the user cap has been reached.

Who is this for?

First and second year college students, *international students or applicants who require sponsorship to work in the US, and those who are curious about the tech industry but not yet ready to interview are encouraged to register in this track!

Third and fourth year college students, recent grads, and early-career transitioners looking for an early-career internship or full-time role are welcome to register in this track.

What will I do?

vFairs is your oyster! You will connect with peers, listen to inspiring panels, explore a variety of roles in companies, complete the event’s scavenger hunt, and chat with company representatives! You can structure your event by building your agenda in advance once the schedule is announced, and come ready to network.

If selected for an interview, vFairs will display the offer in your event schedule. Once you’ve accepted and held those times on your calendar, we encourage you to build out your event experience with the schedule to include our panels and time to explore other company booths!

What will I gain?

From panel conversations across topics in tech to specific company recruitment information, we’re excited to share a breadth of information with our attendees! You will also have the opportunity to interact directly with recruiters and other attendees on Friday, September 8th, and build networks that can support your career goals in the future!

This is a unique opportunity to have a first-round behavioral interview with many of our partner companies! Additionally, you will be able to access all panel conversations, booth content, and participants in the chat across the platform.
Please Note: While we are excited to be able to offer many interview opportunities during this event, we cannot guarantee that each interview track registrant will be offered an interview.


*While the Hiring Summit is open to both domestic and international attendees, the early career opportunities featured require permanent work permission/legal authorization in the United States, as participating employers may not accept OPT or provide sponsorship.

International students are still encouraged to attend the Hiring Summit, to learn more about internship and career types and make professional connections.

About the event

The Girls Who Code Hiring Summit is a one-day, live virtual event designed to connect the Girls Who Code community with internship and job opportunities in the technical workforce, and to connect hiring managers to a diverse slate of candidates for internships and jobs. The content in company booths at the Hiring Summit will be available from September 8-15 for registrants to access.
Friday, September 8, 2023, from 12pm to 5pm ET here on vFairs.Registrants will receive the event schedule in advance and will be able to access documents, videos, links, and additional resources in company booths on the day of the event.
The virtual Hiring Summit will include several online areas for exploration, learning, and connection.
Including:
The Exhibition Hall: Partnering organizations will each have a virtual booth where they will share videos and resources about their companies, open roles, and application process. Their staff will be on hand to answer questions in the chat, and to individually invite attendees to one-on-one video calls for deeper conversation.
The Auditorium: There will be one fireside chat and four panels from partners and our GWC alumni exploring different topics related to the technical industry, early career tips and tricks, and deep dives into represented companies.
The Matchmaking section: Meet other attendees for randomized peer-to-peer networking opportunities.
If you are on the interview track, you will be considered for interviews that will take place on Zoom during the live event. Recruiters will reach out at least a week before the event kicks off to schedule interviews. Attendees in this track will also have access to all booths, panels, and peer networking!
This event will include networking video calls, so please ensure you are on a device with a video camera and a microphone and are able to participate from a quiet environment. vFairs online events are fully compatible with Desktop (web) on the following browsers when updated to the latest version: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge (chromium version on Windows 10 only). Additionally, vFairs offers a mobile application for free download through which you may attend the event.
On vFairs, users will be able to alter the website’s design according to their needs and preferences. Once you’ve registered, you can choose an accessibility profile from seizure-safe, vision-impaired, cognitive disability, ADHD-friendly, and additional vision or motor disability options.   • Anyone interested in learning more about careers in tech.
To be considered for interviews during the live event, you will have to meet the above qualifications and be currently enrolled in or recently completed intensive coursework in computer science. Please note: opportunities shared at the Hiring Summit may not sponsor employees to work in the US. If you are an international student or applicant, you are welcome to join the event through the exploratory track.
No. While this event was designed to reach our college-aged and early career Alumni, this event is open to the wider Girls Who Code community. See question above about registration for more guidelines on who should register for this event.
There are over 25 participating companies across the country that are looking to place Girls Who Code community members in summer intern and/or entry-level technology roles, including Two Sigma, ServiceNow, Accenture, RTX, Deloitte, and Logitech.
Set yourself up for success by making sure your resume is up to date. Your resume will be submitted with your registration form, and you’ll have the opportunity to make changes in your profile at any time before the live event.
Similarly, update your LinkedIn so that you can share that link with other attendees easily. Make sure to check out our Workshops page on vFairs! We’ll host two sessions before the event to ensure you’re doing everything you can to prep for the big day, including guidance for interviewees and how to make the most of the event through vFairs.
Girls Who Code has recorded webinars on topics like How to Prepare for a Virtual Career Fair, Crafting Your Resume, and more on YouTube and on our Hiring Summit website’s Previous Resources. We will be adding guidance on how to prepare for your specific track to this platform as well!
Lastly, think about your environment. Video calls will be available through the Interviews, Matchmaking, and Booth Expo portions of the event. You’ll want to ensure your camera and microphone are working, that you have a well-lit, clear space to sit, and that you are dressed appropriately to meet new professional contacts.
Registration for job seekers will open in July, 2023. Registration for the interview track will close Wednesday, August 16th and registration for the exploratory track will remain open until the end of the event. Register early to hold your spot, but please cancel your registration if you can no longer attend to make space for others.
To ensure this is a fun, useful, educational event for all participants, and that there are enough opportunities to connect for attendees, Girls Who Code has capped the number of tickets for different categories of participants. If we reach the cap, we will open a waitlist form to accept as many attendees as possible. If more tickets open up, we will notify the folks on the waitlist.
